My SIL wants to build a kit rifle. I saw a good youtube video from "Hawken Expert Bob Woodfill" (Link below) of a Gemmer Hawken built to be close to the lines of an original Hawken. I'm thinking of getting an Investarms Gemmer Hawken kit and if there was a Canadian dealer I would likely go cap lock. If not I thought I could order a flintlock kit and have it shipped to a Motana shipping outlet on the border and drive down and pick it up and bring it back across. In Canada flintlocks are considered antique so I could bring it across with no issues. Anybody know of a dealer, Mr Google has nothing!

I have been accused of being a champion of the obvious but, can local gun store order it for you?
There are some outfits that will Import for you.

A little while ago I stopped at customs on both sides of the line. Neither had a ready answer for me. CBP referred me to BATF, who I haven't contacted. Cdn side had to check online and confirmed only PAL required to bring back a non-restricted but had concerns about export paperwork might be be required fron U.S. side.

Neither office seemed fully knowledgeable about bringing back a muzzleloader purchased in the States.

That's a good point. I know Prophet river brings in other firearms for clients so I likely could get them to bring one in and just pay their fee, likely would be less than the cost of gas to drive 5 hours to the border and 5 back, especially if I drive all that way and have issues getting it back across.
