I've been away healing up but getting serious about load development for my 54 48" twist lefty flint Dstalker. I have searched but unable to find a definitive answer. I've read references to .008 and .004. My rifle is at least 15 years old. There are references Lyman once publishing this info but I've not found it. I did find one published measurement on a namlh web site
http://www.namlhunt.com/traditionalmldata2.html
stating 540 bore and 556 groove. Anyone ever slugged a Lyman 48" twist 50 or 54 barrel?
Edit: it is a 5 narrow lands and 5 wide groove barrel making measurement very difficult. Comparing .004 and .009 paper to the depth under a magnifier definitely closer to .009, appears the same. Also I prefer redneck homesteader to redneck bubba when you comment.
