I would agree that it does not have the same ’panache’ as that one Brian Anderson had built for me, this one does look almost too commercial.

That's a serpentine lock not a snap matchlock. A snap lock would cock and have a trigger that released a sear allowing the serpentine to fall onto the pan. This is the early, most basic style where the serpentine and trigger just pivot on a screw/post in the stock.

Yes, a BIG ‘duh’ on me … typed too fast, on my phone no less. I should know better, as I only have one of each, snapping, serpentine, tiller (lever), & trigger, LOL!
