Anyone shooting paper cartridges in 36 & 44 caliber?

I am looking at trying my hand a paper cartridges for the above calibers. I have looked at several kits online, but I am wondering if anyone on here is making and selling kits for the above?

Also, does anyone use round balls only in the paper cartridges? Since I don't have a conical mold yet for either caliber, I am planning on using round balls only to start with.

Would appreciate any help from the muzzleloader brothers and sisters.

I tried the paper cartridges, got the kit to make them. I enjoyed making them but I find my pistol shoot more accurately with powder, wad and ball. No regrets, sometimes I make a bunch to shoot. Most times not.

Thank you Piquant, I have read that many folks say the same thing. Just looking at it right now, and not ready to jump. Seems like it would be a great time saver though.

This YouTuber has kits that he sells and tons of how to videos..(I have no affiliation other than a subscriber)..Oh yea..do a search of Guns Of The West.

I have the same Eras Gone kit. It works OK.

Today I tried something a little different. I made up 2 dozen cartridges but only with powder. I closed the end after charging them by twisting the paper. When I went to the range I loaded my Pietta Dance revolver with the paper cartridge, a homemade wad, and then a .454 ball. This made loading faster than loose powder and ball and I didn't have to worry about difficulties due to the small loading port in the Pietta.

After I was done shooting there was a ring of unburned paper in the base of each chamber. For the cartridge bases I used the paper provided by Eras Gone but for the tube I used curling papers, which burned up better.

Old West Bullet Moulds sells cast bullets for .36 caliber, They have a heel bullet in two different weights which is proper for paper cartridges. I am not sure about .44 but it is worth looking and they have some other neat stuff.

Same here. Those little plastic tubes are dirt cheap, last a while and can really speed up the process at the range.

I've played around with the paper cartridges some, and they are kind of fun to make, but can be a time consuming process. If you are a bit short on time - both at home and at the range - those plastic sample tubes can be a bit of a time saver.

I have both 36 and 44 kits from You Tube Guns of the West. I have only made cartridges using round balls. Makes range day easier. So far all my revolvers have shot well using paper cartridges. I also used dixie quick load tubes, which so far are my preferred choice.

Is that nitrated paper or just blunt wraps (cigarette paper)?

Here are the cartridges I made using Guns of the West kit. Paper is not nitrite, I have never had an issue with using these. Also here are the 36 caliber tubes I use. I also have them in 44 and 50

With the Dixie quick load tubes you fill them with your charge then push the ball in. You can put a wad on top of the ball. I carry these in my pocket on wood walks. I really like these tubes
