Laurel mnt forge stain in Walnut color.
Anyone ever used it if so how did it work.
Was it to dark to see the figure in curly maple.

It's my understanding aquafortis is best for bring out curly maple figuring, but I've never used it, so my belief is strictly second hand.

I'm talking stain not aquafirtis. Thankyou though. I've never had good luck with AF.

LMF walnut with ebony LMF toner added. Picture is with just the stain and no finish. The oil finish should bring out the curl more. Second photo is LMF walnut only.

Ok I thought it was fine. Ok I looked. Are both pics same gun. I like the right one.I like the left too. When you add the oil finish won't it bring out some of the black and make it lighter? I likem both. If those are the same gun how did you get it lighter?

Ok, I still like the dark. If you don't can you wipe it down with acetone and lighten it the put the oil on.

I have a hard time with Aqua Fortis, being colorblind. I use nitric then Aqua Fortis to make it black. I sand it back with some dye and finish to get the color I like.

KmcMichael, I think I used that once. What I had was beads. You add water mix well rub on stove. Next morning it was black. Took alot of boiled linseed oil and rubbing but it ended up nice. By the way I love the looks of that stock.

Never tried acetone to remove stain off from wood. Works good on cleaning the stain off from my hands though.

Yes it does. Bleach works great. I wash mine in straight bleach the soap and water. Makes my Hans nice and ckean.
