Are there markings on the top of the barrel? The mark on the side of the barrel isn’t English by my limited knowledge. Look for continental proof marks if you have access to a chart of them.

May have been an officers pistol.
Dear Sam Pistol looks very French & they did issue NCO 'Officers' Pistols 'appears made flint but nicely converted to percussion cap '
.Now ime probably in the wrong section I have need to bring out the deep figure in old' Damascus' Barrels not the common' Twist' barrels . Its an acid possibly Sulfuric but might be some organic fruit was used its former owner stook off the deep figure on two flats but its a thick walled Turkish barrel of great age he did fine bore the old inside bore . Rigby of Dublin made such beautifully tactile barrels about 1830s from memory .All prier being Via Damascus or possibly more Kurdistan origin .They where highly esteemed exports and many European gunmakers used them a combination of good iron ore & a fuel of Olive husks giving cleaner & hotter fuel. That & Skill its thought .
Cheers Rudyard
