When using Aquafortis Reagent , do you apply the HEAT when it dries, or when the stain is wet?
 
It should be dry so that your heat will react with the iron in your acid solution.
 
I'm learning something new here as well. The time I used it, I used a heat gun to heat the gunstock almost immediately after I applied the aqua fortis. The stock turned dark immediately and so I thought that's how it worked. I will try letting the stock dry next time and maybe get even more color!
