Armi Sport Kentucky Rifle

I came across an example of this rifle at a gun show last weekend. NIB $500 CDN.

It sure is pretty. It appears to be well built.

.45 might be alittle light for Whitetails, but if it is accurate I might enjoy punching paper targets with it.

It seems it has a 1-36" twist. Is that too fast for a roundball in this calibre? What would be a good choice for projectile?

Any info you can offer would be helpful.

I have this rifle. The twist is 1/31 in fact. It is "Kentucky-Hunter", right?. Very nice paper target rifle. Don't even try to use round balls. You will waste Your powder only.
It is my target. It was 50 meters range shooting (if i remember corret), standing position, off hand. Few months ago.

Now i use .45 Minies (Lee moulds) and they work great. I'm much more familiar with my rifle and now shoot better. Minies + 60 grains is the best variant - in my case, i'm accenting.

One thing : I have an Armi Sport's Kentucky rifle, but it is one of rifles designed next by HEGE Company for German (and maybe American too) customers. They did it in 1980s, if i'm not wrong.
Those rifles are much better. Armi Sport shipped their best stuff to HEGE in Germany. In Germany they were tested in HEGE's shooting ranges and one more time selected. The best stuff were sold in Germany next; or maybe shipped to USA too, what is very propable.
Check the left side of the barrel, just over the sideplate. If You will find punched "HEGE" stamp - You don't need to ponder more - just take it.

I think you can get a lot more gun for a lot less money with s Lyman Great Plains.

Yeh or a Renegade or Foxridge rifle as well. They will have a 48 or 66 twist which is better for roundball.

I will add that the Army Sport looks like a great shooter of conicals. Do you have a pic of the rifle so we can check it out?
