The problem with identifying a particular shooter as the one who sniped Ben Milam while he stood in front of the Verimendi house to view the Mexican position on the plaza in San Antonio de Bexar is that there were too many

For your thorough response. In the confusion of battle, it is virtually impossible to say who shot whom and fights for "bragging rights" last long after the incident is over. Was it an aimed shot and if so, whose claim is more plausible? Or could it have been a "stray" that was intended for someone else? Or was it just plain dumb luck or the victim being in the wrong place at the wrong time? Ben Miliam's slayer is no different and we'll probably never know with any certainty.

The same may be applied to other famous persons including Nelson or Sedgwick or the "Immortal Wolfe" (or "Immoral" as another poster put it).

Gary,

I appreciate the exchange of information as I am always looking to learn something new. It is surprising how many new aspects of history can be "discovered" when we exchange information with each other. Many of my searches into history have begun as a hint of some new bit of information to be uncovered or verified in an exchange of ideas with others who have similar interests.
