I have an old CVA SxS 12-bore with 13 1/2" tubes. It may be one of those you're referring to. I bought it that way and used it heavily in reenacting. We were a Reb Provost unit and it just fit the job. If it's not one of those shorties, whoever cropped the barrels was very good. Even relocated the front bead. Very professional job.
 
In the current "American Rifleman" is an article on the British Cavalry carbine. Not a shotgun, but a cavalry weapon. The bbl was 21" long with a trapped ramrod.
