On some other forum (forget where) someone posted a email that they said was from Pedersoli (right down to the broken but clearly understandable English) saying they were looking to produce a British Baker rifle mid-2022.
This caught my eye as any Bakers currently sold, that I have seen, are all smoothbore which the original was not. Presuming a Pedersoli variant will be rifled.
Anyone have further information?

Okay. Found the email from Pedersoli thats about 1 year old. Its from a British ML group. Thought it was mid-2022 for release - assuming “developed” means production - but looks like it was just “2022.” And a lot can change in a year so here’s hoping the project is still on track.

Now THAT would be something, eh? A replica Baker that didn't cost $5-6000, and you didn't have to wait for for five years!

I'm betting that we are STILL looking at around $3K, though, but that's way less than half a real one.

Yes. As an owner of multiple Pedersolis now, they are all great and beautiful with zero issues, they were not cheap. Not eye poppingly bend-me-over expensive but your wallet certainly feels it.
And I will admit to having concerns about a planned Baker price.
Some of their stuff is very reasonable, some is just reasonable, but some is way high in price with no discernible reason to me. Afraid the Baker may fall into that last category. We will see. Not bored with what I have now.

Yes. The third and final model was a .65 caliber barrel to shoot a .62 caliber patched bullet from my reading.
One would hope Pedersoli would “follow the history” but they did not specifically mention a caliber. Wonder what model (caliber) is the one they bought to design after. Believe the very first models of the Baker started at .75 like the Brown Bess.

The service ammunition was always for a 0.620” bore.

Italy got so slammed with the covid, it really hurt their mfg. overall. Hope it can crank up again in future.

In Australia the Jaeger is $3600. So yes they do get pricey indeed.

Ouch.
While I like Pedersoli I definitely have my price limits. It’s not like I’m shooting my current collection too much as it is. Paid slightly less then half that on my last one and that was pushing it. Supposed to be a fun hobby not painful! ;)
