Not sure what is going on with rust on/in their firearms using Ballistol but I use it on all my weapons and have never had an issue in the 10 years I have been using it. Some of them being left in the gun safe for a couple years or more. I know of one former high end gun engraver that would only use Ballistol on firearms worth 1k's. He swore up and down by it. I use it mixed with water a s a BP solvent and patch lube. Use it as a gun oil and even on leather. After surviving cancer I am VERY careful about what I use and come into contact with so I'll stick with Ballistol. It is also approved in the food industry where food comes in contact with machinery.
I agree! Can't believe that people would "prefer" concoctions full of carcinogens & petro products over Ballistol. It's a good safe product that works great on BP firearms. The people that have "issues" with it may have a valid reason. I just haven't been able to find fault with it.

Ballistol is undoubtedly excellent stuff which I have used, I don’t any more for one reason - cost. 1/3 pint Ballistol eight pounds. One gallon concoction of over the counter products in daily use - four pounds. Hot water is even cheaper. Each to his own and thank the Lord for giving us the gift of discussion.

The one and only time I've ever had a patch come out of the bore with some rust on it was when I had Ballistol in it. Rifle was cleaned and dried the same as I always do and it had sat for about 3 months through the summer.
Started first using Natural Loob (hated cleaning the cooked residue back out of the bore after shooting, but never had any rust), then went to Hoppes gun oil (never had an issue with it), then switched to Ballistol because I wanted to leave a preventative in the bore when I loaded for hunting (I leave it loaded through hunting season). After discovering the rust I went to Barricade after seeing Zonie post about it. Doubt I'll ever switch, it has worked so far and I can shoot with it still in the bore with no issues.

I’ve used this for years on all of my guns with good results.

A layer of BLO on the exterior, including the metal is a fantastic water proofer. It hardens nicely, but leaves a faux patina. Inside gets almond oil. No rust and doesn't dry, just store horizontal.

And the ability to be stupid!

I got 150 grains of 777 in my measure says that drinking Ballistol in that concoction will make you run for the john.

Seriously, though. I like Balistol. I use Ballistol. I've used it in a 20% solution with water as a shooting patch lube (wet and dry), and I'll use either Moose Milk or that B'stol solution to clean the barrel/lock in the field after a day of shooting. After a deep clean with hot water and Dawn, I'll use it to coat the inside and outside of the barrel after drying the barrel thoroughly (that's important). I also dab it uncut on the lock after a deep clean. It's good stuff.

I also use it as a conditioner for leather and plastic, and other stuff that needs a light lube and a good stink.

I use moose milk for cleaning. But barricade for rust protection in the bore . I wipe the outside with ballistol. Had rust in one bore after ballistol. Went to barricade and never any rust and easy to clean out to get ready for the next range session. Just what works for me.
