Are you swabbing between shots I didn't see it brought up? My 32 I have to swab at least every 3rd shot or the pattern grows like yours. It's the only gun I have that I have to swab between shots to keep the accuracy up.

thank you good sir for the confidence sooooo iv discovered that the only...and I mean only lube tis rifle likes is a good old fashioned spit patch.....one problem....what do i do in the winter when im hunting squirrels? ive tries both of stumpys lube s..bore butter...and grape seed oil...it all comes down to spit.....lol I swab evey three shots...otherwise it gets pretty rough. and lemme tell you...a .020 patch and a .315 ball with a spit patch is a pretty tight fit....i need some motrin...

Byron,
try Mink Oil, its available from Track of the Wolf, and its pretty cheap. I am using it during the Winter here in Western Australia, now we don't get snow like you blokes do, but gets cold all the same, and you can leave the rifle loaded for a few weeks if necessary, my little .36 Leman is ready for any crow that annoy our chooks !!

Cheers

Heelerau.
Ps when looking for a load, only change one thing at a time and fire say 5 shot groups off a solid rest. I would be surprised if a patched ball rifle would ever lead, as the ball is patched. Roughness of the bore is a definite no no, uneven seating pressure of the ball will spread shots as well.

Once you have cleaned your bore to your satisfaction as others have suggested, you need to work on developing a good load for your rifle. It has been my experience that the small bores such as the .32 are a bit touchy when it comes to developing a good accurate load. Just use Dutch Schultz' Muzzleloading Accuracy System to work up a load. It is going to be a bit more touchy than larger calibers but it can be done.
