of all the posts I have read, I don't think I have heard of anyone swabbing after the fifth shot. it is either they don't swab at all or swab after every shot. I swab after every fifth shot, wet a patch and swab out the fouling, followed by a dry patch. swabbing after every shot makes more sense to me than not swabbing at all during a range session, I am just too lazy for that. after 5 shots I will wet a patch with moose milk, ( water sol. oil, murpheys oil soap, and water) and swab the bore all the way to the breech plug, then use a fouling scraper and get the crud off the breech plug, followed by a dry patch, allso wipe off the frizzen and pan. I use spit or track of the wolf mink oil for patch lube. I would think not swabbing during a range session of say 40 rounds, there would be a lot of build up in the breech area? enough fouling for a piece to block the touch hole or nipple? some even swab the barrel after they load it, this to me makes no sense at all. I feel I need to swab after the fifth shot as the witness mark on the ramrod will start working up, (fouling). I have been doing it for about 20 years this way, can someone come up with a good reason to change? flinch

Sonds like good practice to me, essentially your'e doing a wet patch cleaning every 5 shots.
I use a loose fit  dry patch after every shot and around every 20 shots I pull the drum screw and clean out the flash hole and use nipple pick.

Flinch, I was a regular swabber after every 10th shot, until I started using wonder Lube/Bore butter in pretty heavy doses on my patches..now I don't swab until the match is over...30 + shots...don't need to, no problem loading..Hank
