The Greenhill formula is based on Bullet Length, not weigh.

And a heavier bullet of the same diameter as a lighter one will be longer.

Hollow pointing a bullet shifts its center of gravity rearward, and that also affects the stability of a bullet.

Yes but otoh, a 62 grain .224 with a non hollow point also shoots nicely in a 1:12.

As I previously noted, the Greenhill formula is based on the idea that 1500 fps. MV is going to be the optimum velocity for Cast Lead Bullets fired from a rifle.

As Dan explained to you previously, the Greenhill formula was designed for artillery shells. He has further explained how to apply Greenhill to BPC cartridges. You would do well to pay attention to what he says given his history of accumulating trophys by shooting fat long lead projectiles at long ranges.

Rather than debunking the formula, your diatribe simply confirms it.

Try again.

Guess you don't get it. :shocked2: I was not debunking Greenhill. It's a useful formula when it's fit to a particular application is understood. Throwing out the formula without adequately defining it's use is misleading. Especially when the original poster freely states that he is at this point a blank slate.

"Its obvious that you are so much smarter than me, that I should just refer any questions to you in the future. No?" :rotf: :rotf:

Marmoslayer, do you get the funny hat and pointy toed shoes along with the new position?
