My brother and i were trout fishing in kayaks about 10 years ago and we unknowingly must have invaded a beavers turf. I first saw a huge brown thing shoot under my little boat and just as quick the critter slapped its tail right beside and slightly behind me. Scared me but good..i was to freaked out to even paddle for a minute or so. Had no idea they were so big and so territorial. My brother LEFT me..he had no idea what it was but immediately put it into high gear...left a roostertail behind his yak on his way out. I can best describe the sound\concussion as a bowling ball dropped from 10 stories up. I give their lodges a wide berth now.
