Hello, our historical society has a Christian Beck gun from 1810 and we are trying to get as estimate of its value for insurance purposes. I have 2 estimates that are pretty far apart, so I’m seeking a third opinion to get a better picture. I know the value is ‘what people will pay’, but still need an objective opinion in order to find balance between value and premium costs for a non-profit organization.
I know nothing about guns, but this is what I’ve been told by an expert: “This rifle appears in excellent condition, the lock was never converted to percussion like the vast majority. It has never been cleaned which is another plus in value. Though the carving is only incised it is a beautiful design. Above average in decoration and in excellent condition”
--- anyone out there have any recommendations of it’s value? Thank you
