Bending or straightening a barrel

For those who have not had the experienced guidance of ‘old timers’ the blocks and clamps/vyce is the way to go.
The posts above are spot on.
I started out with the Oak or hard wood V-blocks and clamps plus the dial indicator … then I went to the 2x4s on the ground and then the last one I did as I just gave it a good waaannngggg when I pulled the pins and put it under the shooting bench and just gave it a good oomphhhh!
 
I'll take yer word for that. They ain't gonna mess with my barrels that way. And, yes, I have seen them banged against trees, posts, etc.
I use my house ! :)
