A friend got me using the 2" square gauze pads we could get at a medical supply place. They always seemed to have a box or two that had been exposed to moisture or something or other. They can be unfolded/folded to any thickness you want for the different calibers. Had always used old cotton flannel nightgowns my wife was going to toss prior to the gauze pads. If there is any lead in the bore the gauze snags and drags it out.
