I think I spent over a year looking at the Leathermans web site, before I dropped the money. My next one won't take that much time. Quality is very high.

That's right, you definitely can't go wrong with a bag made by Swampy. I'm mucho pleased with one of his I got recently, and for not much dough. Without a doubt, the very best bag for the money comes out of the swamps of Rhode Island!

I got my bag from a fella by the name of Charles Bullar. He made me a bag that was almost the spitting image of the Leatherman bags except he used chocolate dyed leather. Very pretty. It had the same compartmentization as the Leatherman bags as well. It also came with a belt buckle adjustable jutte strap. He also made me a scrimshaw horn with a wolf pattern. The bag cost me about $75. I lost touch with him and I dont know what happened to him, but he made good stuff. Sometimes you get lucky on ebay. There's a lot of guys out there selling their wares. Thats how I got to meet Mr. Bullar, by asking a question about his work.

I make lots of bags and pouches out of the leather salvaged from old furniture. Don't care if they are PC or not. It is fun and I like to do it. As long as you are happy with it no one elses opinion matters.

I don't know how he keeps the cost so low, but I'm pleased with the bag I bought.

I'd say Gary's stuff meets the requirements of the original post.

I'm not saying you get a hand stitched piece of art but you will get a good leather bag that gets the job done.

Thanks for the kind words about my bags guys.

I haven't been around much lately and just starting to get back into things due to battling health problems.

Chance, you can go here to see what I have made for bags, http://www.nimrodsplace.com/lewisandclark1

I would suggest to anyone wanting a bag to seriously sit down and think about possibly doing one yourself first. It brings it to a whole new level when you make your own stuff for this hobby of ours. If thats something you just cannot do then there are several of us here who offer different styles of bags to choose from. Something for everyone, which is good.
