The better way to hold the cylinder is with two dowels clamped in the vise standing straight up. Place two of the cylinder's chambers onto the dowels and it'll be held securely with no possibility of harming the finish or nicking metal.
Nothing was harmed or nicked, but thanks.

I would probably deep fry that cylinder in lard for five minutes or so just below the smoke point, and let it cool to room temperature in the lard; or get the cylinder just to warm to hold on top of the wood stove and dunk it into can containing either kerosene or ATF. and let it set at least a few hours. I use PB Blaster quite a lot but I think that hot lard penetrates better as does hot ATF, diesel or kerosene. Keep in mind that all these are flammable and use care.
Cola contains phosphoric acid which reacts with rust to form iron (III) phosphate which you can then scrub off, same acid as in Naval Jelly, But I don't think it will penetrate below the rust that's on the surface.
The 0*F deep freezer should work but only if the freeze overnight and thaw cycle is repeated a few times, the deal here is nipple and cylinder having different contraction and expansion rates that creates tiny movements between the two, in both the freeze and thaw situations and the tiny movements must add up to enough to break the rust.
Personally I would not put enough torque on it to break even the Traditions tool (I have done this in the past though) and I would not hammer on it. I'd rather the tool broke though than to have the nipple damaged so badly that it had to be drilled out. I'd feel better in getting a lube to penetrate. If it comes to drilling the pieces out, I'd find a reverse twist drill bit, that cuts in the counter-clockwise direction because most of the time the drilling action will eventually unscrew the part and eliminate the need for an easy out.
Any bolt/bar of the appropriate size could also be filed or cut to work as a nipple wrench, I might drill it first to make a recess and not have to cut such a deep notch.
