yes, I have purchased with them before. Effective and cheap. I do wonder the best way to assure the purchaser they are ok.

Anybody who uses a USPS Money Order should know that they are backed by the US Gov't.

And additional plus is that mailing one protects against (mail) fraud, which US Postal Inspectors take a dim view of, and can carry a heavy penalty for.

The USPS Money Order is one of the most counterfeited items there is! My bank will not do anything with one until it has been verified and cleared etc because they have seen so many fraudulent ones!

I am waiting for a check now from a guy who bought some unmentionable parts from me. I sent the parts to him before I had payment, because I am honest, straight forward and can't live in constant fear of someone stealing from me etc. I still do not have the check after two weeks. He was too cheap to use "tracking" How stupid? Anyway, I am in contact with him and he says he will cancel and reissue the check. Maye he will wise up and spend a few bucks for tracking, but I won't hold my breath!
I hope you get your money. Canceling a check runs about $30 ish at most banks.
You NEVER send an item till your money is in your pocket. Just because you are honest doesn’t mean the other guy is. This world is full of dishonesty and con artists.

I agree, but sometimes it just feels good to do something good instead of think everyone and everything is a scam or bad, and I guess at 73 having been through most of these issues , it just feels good now and then do do something "good".

Frankly Post Office money orders are a pain to use. First, a trip to the bank to stand in line to get the cash (amount of the transaction usually exceeds the daily ATM limit). Now drive to the Post Office which is the other end of town in the downtown area where parking is scarce. Then another 15-30 minutes in line at the post office to get the PO, fill it out, and mail it (they always have one less window open than they need). There goes a couple hours of my day.

Since PayPal is out for many transactions I mostly look for vendors who accept credit cards. I’ve passed on some nice buys with vendors who don’t. Some who do charge a fee to use a card, and I will often pass on those too unless it’s something I really want and the price with the added fee is still reasonable.

Credit cards are by far the safest and easiest way to pay. I have even had to go to my credit card company to resolve a PayPal dispute when PayPal didn’t live up to their end. That’s also when I learned that dealing with PayPal over a disputed charge is extremely difficult and can take close to a year to get any action. I only use them now for transactions of small amounts.
Using credit cards is the best way IMHO, but I hate it when they charge 3-4 % fee. That should be the cost of doing business on their end. To me that is like me charging them a fee because I use Gasoline to drive to the post office etc. I have used my card many times and several times had a dispute ,and the bank did a stellar job of handling it every time!

Some years ago our PO was broken into and both the machine and boxes of blank MO's were stolen. Never heard anything was recovered.

That’s why you take the USPS MO to the counter at your local PO branch and cash it. Have done this many times.
Again, you can take a phony MO to the PO, a cashiers check to the bank, if the cashier has no clue between phony and legit, it still comes back to you, you lost product and PO goes to you.

Have been turned down most times on cashing USPS MO's at PO. They always say they don't have enough cash, I tend to believe its pure laziness or overworked emplyees. As for personal checks our bank has warned us about of releasing your information like check and routing number along with names, addresses and phone numbers and your signature. Also some banks report every deposit as INCOME other do not. The IRS may be interested in every transaction. Seems USPS MO's remain sole semi safe way to go for selling and CC's for buying. Again I May add recently almost got screwed on an Ebay PP buy. Contacted Ebay seller who did not respond and finally put CC that was charged by PP in dispute. Saved the day and seller went ballistic as did not respond to dispute in allotted time. Dedicated CC for use with PP are best if you must deal with them.

I hope this is the right forum for this. I did a search and couldn't find an answer. My problem is how to sell since firearm related things are not allowed by paypal. Their policy is pretty spefic and there is no "antique " wiggle room to get by with using them.
What have you used or what do you suggest that would be good and acceptable for both the seller and the purchaser? Thank you, N5JIF
U.S.P.S. money orders have always worked well for me. If in doubt about it being altered or washed, a trip to the Post Office is easy enough for verification.
On another note, I.R.S. has delayed their mandatory $600 vendor transaction reporting- for now. Guess someone figured out the nightmare of paper work waiting after this spring's graduations.

USPS MO, deposited in the bank, just like cash or a check. Wait a few days to make sure it's good and clears.
Sold a new Fowler build. Buyer sent me a personal check. Put it in the bank. When it cleared, I sent him the Fowler. NO PROBLEMS.
I have been known to send CASH, no I D needed. ;)

I’m a pastor so I try to live it to the best extent possible.

I am also a follower of Christ, but refusing to add specific details in the description of a Paypal transaction is not being dishonest (if I misconstrued your post in this thread, I apologize).

I am getting ready to travel to Africa to help lay block for a church and I won't wear clothing that specifically tells everyone that I'm American, for there are still many in the world that hate us. That also is not being dishonest, rather just choosing to not advertise to an adverse audience.

PayPal friends and family? Are they YOUR friends and Family? If not, you're trying to screw somebody out of a few $$$ and my bet is, you will get it in the end.
Being from Ca., I'd guess you would think that way. However, when you're a small seller/business it keeps the government from getting what they don't deserve.

There was already an open topic about PayPal here and a few months ago. I explained that I do not deal with these pseudo-banks...
I am an old man and I work like in the last century: talk, talk, handshake, and cash.
The world has evolved in the last fifty years: I have adopted bank transfer except for small amounts at a distance, and in that case, I use my checkbook...
I have never had a problem with an IBAN and both parties have always been satisfied...

Or just maybe you have learned something and you won't have to hold your breath , but who knows ???//Ed

Most times I'm told they don't have enough cash to do it ,just go to your bank 40miles round trip !! But you need a money order bring cash only way they sell them/Ed
It seems this bs is becoming the norm lately. Yesterday I was was Home Depot and the one register I went in the garden dept. had almost no cash to make change. I had to wait several minutes for a runner to bring dinero to the register. 🤨

I've used USPS money orders for years. The good thing about them is you can cash it at the PO and they know what to look for in counterfeits. Now that you have the funds you can use the money to mail what you sold. Works for me.
