Used Birddog6's liquid patch lube today for the first time. Was only shooting at 25 yards but the .54 GPR was repeatedly shooting one ragged hole with 65 grain 3f target load :) The pump bottle is a good idea, two pumps per patch did the trick. Shooting multiple shots between swabbin' the bore was easy, then just a few pumps on a cleaning patch and good to go. Great stuff, thanks Keith :thanks: :front: :front:

BTW, despite my skepticism, the square patches performed flawlessly :winking:

Dixie,

I started using his lubes two years ago. Liquid and the grease both work great.
PD

Yes, I like it very well. The paste for hunting is great as well. I can't say I noticed any difference in shooting, between the two lubes. The paste lube even works very well in extreme Ohio cold weather. Like below 10

Oh, you got a chance to try it out ! Glad ya liked it !

Yes, I have shot square patches for lots of years with success & they are a heck of a lot easier to cut. Never had a rifle file a complaint either ! ha ha !

Thanks all.

Ah, but how does your lube work on triangle patches?
:hmm:

Birddog6 sells his own brand of liquid and grease patch lubes. He kindly sent me a free sample package of each. Might send you one too if you e-mail him :D

Dixie Flinter, I just wipe the patch in the container and then rub it in with my fingers. I do a bunch at a time and keep them in a snuf container in my shooting bag. Yes, I do use the pump stuff for target/bench and the grease for hunting. I used the grease stuff at the bench when testing and I could shoot till I felt quilty, before I swabbed the bore. You'll like it.

Well..... :hmm: now the triangular patches seem to shoot the same, but the patches don't float to the ground a nicely as the square or round ones, as being 3 sided they are not balanced well & etc.

Now the rectangular patches are neat to watch.... they kind of see-saw back & forth as they float to the gound & that gives ya a different look.... :bull:
