Cold winter hunting day (-15celcius). A couple of good situations , but the birds took a longer shot this time.

After seeing all that snow, I'm glad that I've been in Florida for the last 52 years. However, if I had a chance for capercaillie or black cocks, I might have changed my mind.
 
I've heard that years ago there was a plan to introduce them to Alaska and parts of Canada but the idea was shot down due to concerns about the effect they might have on native birds.

I have many miles under on my feet hunting ptarmigan on snowshoes in country that looked like the OP photos. It was fun then but I sure couldn't do it now!
