The ones I looked at were faster twist.I owned one up until a few years ago.
Instead of the black synthetic stock, I ordered it with a walnut stock.
Mine had a 1/48 twist barrel.
I only ever used the TC Maxi Hunters, 275 grain bullets.
It was very accurate.
Plastic stocks are very light weight and come with serious recoil. I did tame one plastic stocked BP rifle by putting a couple of pounds of lead inside the stock under the butt plate. But it went from being a shoulder beater to a cheek slapper. Eventually I gave up on that plastic stock and bought a wood stock for the rifle. The old plastic one sits in my gun parts in the back closet.I’d think a wood stock would be best to help tame recoil, are the plastic stocks light weight?

me either, but that plastic stock rifle did serve me for awhile, and I used the barrel, lock, and trigger to cobble together a better gun. Because it was a plastic stock I got it thrown in as a deal sweetener on some other guns. Then I hunted down a wood stock eventually and got it for a $100. End result was a gun I use for hunting on occasion that handles well and I have all of $100 into the thing.I’m not one for plastic anyways, I think I’m going to begin the search. Now to decide 50 or 54 caliber…

I have on in .50, 1 in 28 twist with a walnut stock. It shoots the Hornady Great Plains bullets pretty well with 85 grains of 777. I like it but I mostly shoot my .54 TC Hawken now. I'm sure I'll come back around to it though.
CVA by their breech/bolster design have a harder time with the substitutes. More care on cleaning, prepping for the load and loading procedures are needed. T/C breeches are more forgiving.
I wouldn't compare one to the other using T7
Yes, with musket caps. I also have good luck with CCI Magnum #11's.Does it reliably ignite 777? I have had issues using 777 before with my cva hawken. It’s no problem with regular black powder though.
If it’s reliable with 777 that is good news, it be another powder to have access to.
