Has anyone used KIK powder and how does it compare to GOEX. It is about $3.00 cheaper than GOEX.

I have been using it for 4 years and I like it.It is a little hotter and cleaner IMHO.

I use KIK the most and like it. I just got my first batch of Goex and it seems ok but have not had a chance to work up a load with it yet.

There is a difference in the granule sizes between the two, KIK 2f looks to me to fall in between Goex 2f and 3f and I think KIK 3f is a finer grind than Goex 3f.

Give it a try maybe you'll like it better than Goex, maybe not. The one thing I like about Goex is it's made in the USA so if I can find as good a load as the one I'm using now with KIK i'll buy American. Thats something we all should think about from now on IMHO.

Although this information is dated 2001 and it may not apply now, I thought it was interesting:

Goex has added KIK superfine black powder to it's product line up. KIK black powder is for use in muzzleloading muskets, pistols and rifles. The imported black powder has been manufactured in Slovenia since 1852. ... It is available in FFg and FFFg granulations.

I use Kik FFFg in my flinter. It likes it better than Goex. I've found it can leave a pretty good carbon ring when I use a large charge (90 gr). But it's easier to push a PRB past the Kik ring than a Goex ring, IMO.

I've been considering switching to KIK too. Everyone says it's pretty good stuff and burns a bit cleaner. The only thing that's been holding me back is having to develop loads for all my guns again. It took long enough to find the perfect load for the the first time and I'm hesitant to start the process all over again! :rotf:

Kik is what I use. I like it a lot but have not used Goex so I can't comment on the comparison there.
Idaho PRB

i use both Kix's and Goex in both 2ff and 3fff,i've never ran any tests or anything such as that, just hunting. but as far as i can tell the only differance is price.
