Bore light

Bought a new traditions a1885 bore light and it came with no batteries and how to install them.I could use a little help please.

It should have the battery installed. Simply unscrew the 2 half's to access the little board and battery. Mine would not work at first. Cleaned up the contact points and then it lit up but every time it hit the bottom of the barrel it shut off. I glued a felt wad on the end of it to soften the landing and it has worked flawlessly since then Nice little light when it works.

@vince-m, looking at the reviews on Amazon, battery life as delivered is not one of the strong points of this bore light. You should be able to go to your Dollar Store and buy some 377/376 batteries or SR626 batteries and it should light up.

well just seems like it happens all to often. I will try to get those batteries trendier talked about and see if they work.

I feel that those bore lights are a waste of money. I either use a thrill fishing bobber light or a small round mirror (at hobby shop) that I glue to a section of dowel. Put it down the barrel and shine my mini mag light on the mirror to see the bore. I use these items when shopping for used muzzleloaders. At home I use my Teslong bore scope.

Looks like the end of the Traditions light is too large for the light to slide down into the barrel. Just inserting the clear part blocks the view of the bore on a traditional muzzleloader correct?

Lighted archery nocks work well. At 9 for $16 on Amazon they are almost disposables.

I have found that the Thill bobber lights @Grimord mentioned are the best thing for me. You can check a bore all the way down to .22 cal with it, multiple light colors. They last a LONG TIME for checking bores, if you can remember to turn them off. That's why I keep a half dozen on hand lol.

The only thing I have found with the Thill lights, is that if you just drop it down the bore and let it hit the breech every time, it will mushroom the bottom of the battery. I put it in the muzzle with the barrel level and then slowly turn it down so it comes to a stop a bit slower.
