Yesterday while shopping at O reily's Auto parts I found a small LED light for $9.99 that will fit in a .30cal bore with the clip still on. It makes a great bore lite if you can find one. It is about 4"long so won't let you see the breechend of you barrel. I haven't sent it down the barrel light first yet but will when I finish this. This thing works great and is handy as a small flashlight.

Thanks I just sent it down light first as the bulb is protected. If you go slow you can see the breechend good. It measures .25 or 1/4" in dia so fits most muzzleloaders.

Cabela's sells a small multi tool for around 7.00, that has a small 1" long led light attached.

I ground the pin off that held it in place. It slides down my 50, and prob a 45 cal. You still have a small utility tool to use as well  .

Thanks for the tip; I've been gonna try to make a bore light using an LED bulb as the commercial bore lights are kinda pricey, especially the batteries.

The drop-down bore light I use is very small and quite reasonably priced: the diameter is 0.16" and 1.33" long, costs $4. Basically it is a LED light with the battery included, runs 20+ hours. Really simple, very effective and cheap. Made by Flintlocks Inc. in Indiana (317-933-3441) (at least that's what the package states); I didn't get it from them directly but got it at my local BP shop. :)

I have one for each one of my guns in the case with them.Price is right and light is bright.Once you figure out how to turn it on and off it works better than the CVA ones with the replaceable batteries because it will fit down my son's .32 cal.(Son had to show me how)
