I bought a TVM Virginia with the optional LR Queen Ann lock and upgraded wood. It also has a 42 inch swamped round bottom Rice barrel in 54 caliber.
I am pretty impressed. It is very fast, and absolutely no issues. I just shot 70G 2F with a 0.015 RMC lubed patch with a 0.530 Hornady ball. They grouped really well at 50. I may try a 0.020 patch since the rifling is 0.016 deep. It loads really easy, and cleans really well. The barrel is smooth.
I always leaned to shorter barrels, this is my first 42 inch. It balances at the rear sight, but still feels really long to me. Deer season for flintlocks is next week, so I'll see how I like it in the woods.

Looks nice man. Seems like people always like TVMs. Share some pics of that big old deer you're about to shoot.

A friend had a TVM Va .54 rifle setup much like yours. I really liked his rifle. But he sold it for a lot more than he paid for it. Me, I'd have kept it.

The wood upgrade was termed premium plus. +125 bucks. To be honest the grain is average, but there are no defects or filler. I expected a bit better. Fit and finish is very good.
So what is my feedback with 4 range trips and 70 rounds fired?
Was it worth the price. Yes, no issues.

How does it shoot? Excellent. Super fast, reliable, very accurate.

Things I like the most. Really nice Davis trigger with the rear trigger on an angle. I like the feel of the rear trigger, and the front trigger has crisp break with no snap back. The Rice round bottom barrel is super smooth. It loads and cleans really well. I light swab between shots and it never builds up hard carbon. I got 60 shots with no misfires before I got no spark with the original flint. Changed flint to bevel up and still get great spark. Pan powder fill has no effect on great ignition. So the LR Queen Ann looks solid.

Final personal first impression, great rifle I would get another. I would not order wood upgrade because I will have this one pretty dented and dinged in short order over the 2 week deer season. I generally push deer so my rifles see a bunch of miles and falls. I am super confident that this rifle is an excellent hunting tool for the flintlock deer season here in PA.

Nice! I’m considering TVM for my next gun which will be a squirrel rifle.
I visited TVM yesterday.. Right now they have two.40 cal rifles in the showroom ready to go .
Actually I am going to buy one of them so I guess I should say that they have one..
