Boys it's cold and the ground is covered with snow here in Western Ky. Am going to be heading down to Livingston county in just a little bit to try and get an antlerless deer to convert in to jerky sticks this weekend. Anybody else going to brave the cold this weekend?

Believe it or not, I haven't had a good range session for several weeks now and am starting to have withdrawal pains...so in spite of 20* temps tomorrow morning I was actually thinking of hitting the range at daylight and running about 50 of Hornady's finest downrange...stop on the way home and take down one treestand, etc.

I have one of those large radiant heater/reflectors that clamps onto the top of a 20lb propane bottle...thinking about setting it up 15 feet behind me and see if it'll keep me surrounded with cloud of warm air...it's a little nosiy but I'll have ear plugs on anyway

wouldn't miss it for anything. 15 degrees with 10 mph winds, will have to kill something quick so I can warm up my hands. Love the chance to get out when there is a snow cover on. Got about 3" in Hancock County yesterday and it certainly is not warm enough for anything to melt. Should be a great morning tomorrow to hunt over food sources. Skin em fast and put them in a cooler so the meat doesn't freeze.

Good thing all that global warming 'eh? We wouldn't be above zero if it were not for us screwing up the environment - sorry - Yeah heading to Owen Co. tomorrow - about 3" on the ground there. Still have to draw first blood with that .50 cal. Tennessee Mountain rifle. Be nice to hunt in the snow again, have not done it for several years. I'll take the digital camera, hope to post a picture of a score with that flinter next week!

Cold in Kentucky?

You want to see "blue grass" come up here and we'll dig down to it through the ice and snow.

Heck, severe cold don't officially start until the single digits. By that I mean, like when it's 40º below and your fingers have all fell off and you've only got a thumb left on each nubby hand. :haha:

No kidding. It's cold up here in N. wis when the actual temp is around 0 and the windchill is -15.

Hell, 20 degrees is a good day to go hunting or just be outside, up here.

I hunted in 7 degree weather all morning. I don't mind freezing my ass off as long as there's some visual reward to go with it, but I didn't see anything until noon :cursing: 5 does too far for a shot. Fixing to head back out.

2thdoc, good luck hunting in Livingston County. I live right across the Ohio R. in Pope Co, so we're pretty well sharing the same weather. Cold is right!

Went out this morning but saw nothing but some older tracks. The snow is blowing pretty fierce but in a strange way it is exhilirating.

Tommorrow morning should be interesting. The snow will have stopped and the deer should be moving.

It's cold here in Indiana also. Around low 20s and about 4 -8 inches of snow. The M/L season ends on the 18th of Dec. Don't know if I'll get out. My hunting buddy (11 yo Son .. first season) has Asthma and I don't want to chance it with all this cold weather. So guess I am done for the season. Just don't like hunting alone. Good luck to everyone else braving the weather.

I and three others just spent 4 days in the big timber in Northern WI this past week. Very cold. The snow was too crunchy to sneak ( still hunt ) so we didn't move much. About the longest we could stand/sit at a time was about 2 hours. The temps were -8 at night and about 10 above during the day....not counting wind chills.

Good hunting to you guys and stay warm !

Regards, TraderVic

Three inches of fresh snow. Gun season's been over for a week now. Should be prime scoutin' time in the mornin'. Gotta re-pattern since the USM (urban shotgun massacree). See if they're still beddin' in the same spots and try to figure out what they're eatin', since what's left of the harvested grains are covered with ice.
Smokepole season starts on the 27th.
Cold but good.
