Thanks for the invite and I do understand what you are saying, however I'm a jurried event guy, I personally don't do rendezvous, I've been to a few and it's just not for me.

I'm a purist, thread counter, HC nazi but us who are, we remain the outcast, we are weird, arrogant and belittling to others. People post things on a traditional MZ fourm that are not traditional and they get upset, furious or whatever when someone interjects. However, the person interjecting is ALWAYS in the wrong...

We can argue HC all day and get nowhere... to talk steel of barrels, this and that is ridiculous, believe you missed the part were I said... "doing it right the best I can". Nobody is 100% period, however if we don't try then why try at all? In the words of a famous Jedi master, "do or do not, there is no try".

:surrender: Like I said I am NOT P/C kinda guy. Wont find me wearing buck skin mocs etc. I wouldnt mind a nice P/C possibles bag but for the $$ I will use my plastic and buy more powder n ball! I have never been to a rondy ether. Be fun but none around here.

I certainly respect you and blackhand and yer way more effort into the game than mine buts thats where I am at. I dont ridicule others for ridin in to rondy or wearing buckskins....dont ridicule me for my 10% effort. Hey I just love muzzleloaders!

:v

Bk MZ works well in my revolvers and all cap locks (including the .36 I just got shootin well after 15 +/- years). w/o a real bp buffer wouldn't try ANY sub in a flinterlock or earlier.

Now that BP is available via Fed EX (or should I say now that I am aware) I will be shooting it more and more. I had been hording the real black I bought in the early 90's.

Sounds good. And Clyde, I'm not totally P/C stupid! Everyone knows gas was made way to early to count. Thats why I use kerosene to start the fires. :haha:

Too bad it's being discontinued as it seemed to be a decent powder and at the $10/lb price point you can do a lot of shooting for a little bit of money.

If Alliant or someone other than Goex started producing real BP domestically, the price of the real stuff would undoubtedly drop to those same levels.....Then everyone could afford to shoot the stuff....

Nice to dream but it seems like the market is just too small, just like how nearly all sporting goods stores/gun stores don't stock real powder for various reasons. Not enough demand to make it viable it seems.

Partially right... Regulation is more correct. Real black is far more "volatile" than a substitute, therefore the ATF imposes restrictions and haz fees upon it to protect citizens from the horrible, nasty barrel eating substance that will blow up if you look at it wrong... :shake:

Here in WA state our old explosives law says 5 lbs max at home before you need approved magazine. I can imagine that wasn't much of an issue for most shooters when you could buy the stuff in person.

Complicates buying BP and having it shipped because you can only get it shipped in 4 or 5lb increments.

No problem.

Just tell the officer, if he happens to ask about having too much black powder,

"Well, it's obvious officer. I don't have any other black powder sitting around the house which is exactly why I just spent a small fortune ordering the 5 pounds of powder in this box."

Looks like I stirred up a hornets nest here. Still not sure what a fake muzzleloader is. Black MZ works in my T/C Hawken 54, 50 and 45, my Lyman 54 Plains pistol and mt 44 Walker, and my CVA 50 pistol, so I'm just hoping they are real MLers, I would hate to have to can them all.

I'm glad it works for you.....But "works in" really isn't my point...I'm sure someday they'll figure out how to make them work with hydrogen or something else.

I'll still advocate real BP....It's what makes a muzzleloader a real muzzleloader. Same goes for lead balls. :v
