Can't go wong with Goex, and that's probably what you'll find...if you do find some in a retail store. Are you going somewhere specifically to get it? You might want to call ahead to see if they have it. They probably don't. I had to call 6 different places around Indy before I found a carrier here. I believe they are the only one for the enire metro area here.

There is a couple different Goex types, but the Goex superfine sporting powder is what you want to look for. As for granulation size, you have Fg that is for the big bore rifles/muskets, cannons, FFg 45 caliber on up FFFg 32 caliber to 54 caliber (some use this in bigger) FFFFg priming powder for flintlocks.

My primary is FFg for my 45 calibers up to my 12 gauge.

Go to the Goex web site, lots of good info there. I know they have a local distributer list and you may be able to track down local retailers.

Don't know what city you might get to from where you're at (north central NE), but if you're headed anywhere near Yankton, go to Crofton, NE and find the Upper Missouri Trading Co. They carry BP on site for 5# or case sales. He only carries Swiss and Schuetzen BP, though. If you do get there, tell Doc Carlson (owner) I said "Hi" . . . we used to shoot BPCR at Tarbox Hollow . . .

Trench,

Just curious where around Indy you found BP ? I live on the West side, and would like to know where I can pick up some. Just bought my first BP Revolver. Appreciate any info.

I can't find real BP in San Diego county, but I bought 5 pounds from these people. Very easy to deal with, I did have to fill out the release form and fax it along with a copy of my driver license but they shipped fast & reasonable. http://www.powderinc.com/catalog/order_ammo.htm

I bet he can tell you the nearest retail source of black powder, or arrange to get it to you, also.

The Webpage for Goex( see the LINKS, towards the top of the Index page of this forum, under " Member Resources") has a map of the USA and a list of distributors across the country, with names, addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses.

Since the owner of this website, Claude, lives in San Diego, I bet a PT to him would get you information on where to find black powder, too. :idunno: :hmm:
