Over the years, I have seen CVA, Traditions, Pedersoli, FIE, EIG, Euroarms, Western Arms, Richland Arms, Century Arms, Ultra Hi, Dixie, etc. Over the past two years, I have seen online, several arms of varying quality attributed to "Hy Hunter" I had never heard of them until a year or so ago. Can anybody tell me anything about them.

Found the following:

"Henry 'Hy' Hunter was the original proprietor of the American Weapons Corporation of Burbank CCA, but his name was often used on products and is frequently regarded as a brand name. The American Weapons Corporation vanished in the 1970's. 'Hy' Hunter Firearms Company, Inc. of Hollywood and Burbank, California imported and distributed a wide variety of firearms."

Another source gave Hunter's first name as Haywood. Don't know which is correct. The company is best known for the sales of German made firearms, most notably the "Hawes" brand by J.P. Sauer & Sohn. They were also the sole distributor of the Great Western brand of single actions, popular single actions available during the late 1950's and 1960's as finished guns or kits. Hope this helps.
