QUESTION PLEASE: CAN THE BREECH PLUG ON MY LYMAN 50.CAL. GREAT PLAINS MUZZLELOADER BE REMOVED AND IF IT CAN WHICH WAY DOES IT TURN TO COME OUT. CLOCK-WISE OR COUNTER CLOCK-WISE. I HAVE TRIED GENTLY TO REMOVE IT BUT IT'S SOLID AS A ROCK. I THROUGHT I MIGHT BE TURNING THE PLUG THE WRONG DIRECTION........I COULD SURE USE SOME WISDOM HERE.
THANKS

My understand is they breech plug on a Lyman does not come out. If you wanted it out, I would suggest sending it back to Lyman or taking it to a qualified gunsmith.

If there a reason you want the breech plug removed?

THE TIP OF MY CLEANING ROD CAME OFF THE ROD AND IS LODGE ALL THE WAY DOWN NEXT TO THE BREECH PLUG IN THE BARREL. I TRIED TO HOOK THE CLEANING TIP WITH MY PATCH PULLER BUT TO NO AVAIL........BEEN ONE HECK OF A DAY

CAYUGAD THANKS FOR THE REPLY.........I JUST GOT THE CLEANING JAG OUT BY GETTING LUCKY AND TWISTING THE PATCH PULLER DOWN IN THERE (HARD) AND CAUGHT A LITTLE PIECE OF PATCH AND PULLED HER FREE......NOW MY DAYS GETTING BETTER

It's happened to all of us. I have had cleaning rods STUCK and even dry balled a round or 2..
Those CO2 things work great.
Glad it worked out for you

I did that with my GPR once.I was cleaning in hot water. The tip of the rod came off with a cleaning jag and a wet patch. The gun shop didnt have a co2 discharger,so I set the barrell on the wood stove until it dryed out.Put some fff in,put the nipple on and popped it right out.Talk about frustration.Good to hear ya got it out.

That sounds like when I got my first Green Mountain .58 caliber Barrel and they included a ramrod that was flexable. The problem was the ends kept coming off them which I found out the hard way while cleaning it. Needless to say the end was not pinned. I finally had to put powder through the nipple and pack it and shoot the cleaning jag and end of the ramrod out to remove it...

Glad you got it out and are back in business.
