Ok, I’m the fool whose undertaking my first build from a Frankenstein box of parts ( see parts and instruction thread and breech plug install). I have now found the lock…YAH. So from a bit of engine building…way back in time and and a machinist education I’m mulling over timing the breech plug as the plug currently lacks 0.143 from contacting the lands in the barrel. Some may recall a product called plastigauge used by engine builders back when I was a teen and dinosaurs roamed. Not sure it’s even available today (Kasenite isn’t 😥) but thought it might be helpful as i got close before switching to blueing technique. Any thoughts from this esteemed collective?

Plastigage is still available. Measure the length of the thread journal and then the depth to the counter bore. Do a little math. Some dykem or a magic marker on plug face when you’re sneaking up on the ideal fit.
