We are aware that those in Britsh Army [late 1700s to early 1800s] carried Pistols Holstered in holsters that mounted on their Saddles, BUT some carried them holstered on their HIPS 🤫
One such unit was the ROYAL HORSE ARTILLARY ROCKET TROOP. (1796-1813 (?)
The pistol was most likely a 1796 Tower Calvery Pistol (.62 cal) or poss. a pattern 1799 Elliot Light Dragoon Pistol.
