If you brown a barrel on a hooked breached gun, should the tang be browned? all the other hardware on the gun is going to be cased hardend. I was going to charcoal blue the barrel and case harden the tang, but after to failed attempts I took advantage of the high humidity here and rust blued/browned the barrel.

I would definently make the hooked tang the same color as the barrel...in my opinion...mave fun with you project.

Unless you have a particular reason to keep the tang "in the white" and contrast with the barrel, yup, match it to the barrel finish...IMHO

My vote is match the barrel to the tang. Fire blued screws would off-set the browned tang nicely but that's just me.

Yes, I think you guys are right. I will match the tang with browning, but I think I will fire blue the screws.

Good choice...that is the way I finished my hawken and I really like the look it makes...good luck!

Tell us more about how you case harden. Are you able to get some good looking colors?
