Since you are using a home made plug...I've noticed that the one in my mold has 4 vents running the length of the plug space 90 degrees apart..Something you might want to consider...

I searched fleabay and found a picture showing what you are saying. I will put vent lines into the plug. I'll have to think on the best way to do it.
