Hey.

I have to ask.

On average, how long does it take to crank out one of your fine rifles?

Thanks.
Smoothbore trade guns is all I make .... It really depend on what's going on around the homestead ...but I usually figure a month to a month and a half usually but sometimes they'll stretch out to two months .... I'm slow. :)

I took and kept a log of building a NWG kit from Track of The Wolf.
Stock was pre cut, but lock mortise not done, that was one hundred hours till I started wood stain and barrel finish.
I bet it took me about three to four months to get just that much done
Two months sounds like a rush job to me ( time rush I know your quality will be better even then then mine)

I appreciate the praise . I love my trade guns but I'm no Hershel or Frank House . I like em skinny and a bit dirty ....just like the women around here ! LOL ... Love my patinaed and aged guns . ...and as authentic as possible . My guns are as light as the originals and they have to have damn fast ignition ....

Now start my centerline . Now this centerline is important to keep everything centered and straight . I'm sure there are different ways of doing this but just my way here ....this one is easy as the blank is way over thick . If its thin and warped you have to fight it a bit to make sure you get that barrel in there , first part in , most important and dictates everything else's location . This one ,like I said is easy and notvwarped too bad do I just found center at the breach and checked both ends , muzzle and butt , and there's lots of room so I just found center at muzzle end and laid this metal at my two marks ...it was fine at the butt ,plenty of room , so it'll go there just fine . If it was bad I'd just try to use that straight edge and fit it all in there . By the way ....just picked this long aluminum stock up at the hardware , 7ft. Works really well ....before I had to kinda piece the lines together and then eye ball the center line and see if its straight or not ....

Hit the high spots and then connect them ....marks down at the ends .... Then you can make the center line on bottom . Sure is easier if you have help with holding the long straight edge

Got my center line now ... Next , need to start the barrel groove . I like to just chisel in a straight groove to not only get rid of most of the dead wood and keeps the barrel centered and then start the real bedding . Starting at the breach and going forward .....
