LOL ... I love my coffee but ...its gone forever unfortunately ....Hypertension has caught up with me , getting old sucks , so no more coffee ....meh. :/

I'm turning 79, I attribute to caffeine. i was started on at about 6 mos. and haven't stopped. It lubricate my stent!

Love my coffee , boy do I miss it .!! ...but .... My Afib and high blood pressure has been being hard on me lately and coffee doesn't help unfortunately .

Had to go to a city today , ich , so not much time for work . Made ramrod pipes then inlet and pinned them . Then I very quickly knocked down the forearm etc. forward of mortices down to roughed in shape ....

Well sir it’s really starting to look like trade gun,some more with the rasp and a few odds and ends and maybe we’ll get to see a video of the builder shooting his new TG.looking very nice.Rob just so you know this has been very informative and very very interesting especially for us none gun builders,thankyou for taking the time to walk us threw this adventure.walt

For real! With how niche this hobby is and with how old a lot of the builders are, it’s great to have as much building content available as possible.

Carved in the comb flutes and wrist extension into the butt stock ....then carved and refined the lock and S.P. mortices .... I need to stop and get back on the other gun ! LOL ...I am getting ready to cut out and make the buttplate for it .....

Love my new scale ! LOL ... I gotta get back on the other NW Trade Gun ... Mine is in pretty much in " roughed in ' and usable shape once I get the sear spring then I'll put on a front blade .... Then, even if I do no more work to it for awhile I can still bust some turkeys and such ....

Hi bud ...I'm going with plum brown . I've used it for years . its slow but it looks good when done . Funny thing ....recently I was looking for a replace because how slow plum brown is but even though I had a dozen suggestions they all had so many steps , techniques , dos , donts, hang it here , bring the barrel there , boil this , swab with this , heat gun, steam this, eye of newt and voodoo rituals involved ! LOL ... I was like ...no thank you . I'll just stick with plum brown . Just apply a coat every day and see what it looks like ...it'll get done eventually .....

Most the time just a front blade, thats traditional and its a fowling piece . My NW trade gun will have a front and rear sight. I'll leave the barrel in the white until I'm sure that it is shooting to point of aim , then I'll brown it later .... My barrels are just like the originals ,thin, hence the light weight , so the rear sight has to be soldered on instead of dovetailed . Gonna be great ! Getting excited ! Love having it on the wall here in the cabin !

Rob what do you normally do for sights? I plan to just have a front site on my smoothbore. I have a fusil solder on front site coming from Track

That's what I was thinking of doing, even though the lock is already blued.

I thought I ordered the steel site but what I received was a brass one. Will that affect the barrel browning process if I solder it on first?

Oh no , solder it on , you'll be fine . I solder on all my lugs and sights

Sorry , I can't remember the weights bud . I think I have some barrel weights written down in the shop . My barrel is 40" long and the gun is 5 1/8 pds.
