quote: I would love to hunt deer/moose/bear/squirrels with a 4 1/2 inch bore Civil War cannon... Sadly, I know of a few muzzleloaders who wouldn't hunt this way because it would be too hard to hoist the cannon onto their tree stand, and the blast might scatter their bait pile. And they couldn't possibly 'hunt' any other way.
Hey! How about re-creating one of the 2" bore 'punt guns' for goose hunting on the Chesapeake? They look like they'd be a gas to shoot. Give the DEC guys something to put in their diaries.
Now lighting up a duck with a FLIR so the Stinger can lock on - that would be more sporting. One of my original hunting buddies was on a radar guided anti-aircraft artillery battery in Korea (back in the unpleasantries there) and they 'painted' a low contact. The forward observers found nothing but roast goose burger and feathers in the area.
