Busty Bessy is a game girl, when there is some testing to be done she is all ways up for it.
She was struggling today though. The damp cold wind was turning that pan into a slow fuse within minutes of refreshing.
It caused me fail with the brass shot (actually chopped brazing rods), I mentioned it in the smoothbore section.
A couple of weeks ago I happens on some lead shot all mixed in with airgun pellets. Well there is a lot of air gun pellets and I wondered how Bessy would spew them out!
I weighed two ounce of 177 pellets and tipped them in a 12g hull.
Then in the field as it was coming light loaded busty Bessy up with 90gr ish of 3f.
Well when I called on her to spit them out she just laughed at the task as if it were nothing resulting in a rooster flopping about not quite 30yds away.
I loaded her again but got clever on the next bird and thought I could magically shoot through brash only to see the bird lift shouting profanity at me!
Next I loaded with lead shot and jumped a hen. Bessy is difficult to wing shoot, she has all the feel of a chair leg with a pri bar duct taped to it! But occasionally an easy shot arises.
Now if any English want to comment regarding taking a pheasant on the deck, save your breath, I ain't bothered. If there is one thing you can count on here is the English won't turn up to congratulate but sure as heck turn up to criticise. Just like crows turning up to peck the eyes out of a downed ewe!
Anyway, that was busty Bess and me out this morning.
