So a Doc's appointment today, my last for the current hip replacement and to schedule my next. Cabela's is on the way home, so I stop in to buy some T7 3F as they have some and with the military discount and member rebate on the card, it isn't too bad of a price.

I ask the clerk if they have much of it. He affirms that they have several cases. Have you had much demand for it? No, not since hunting season is over. As I am going to be working up loads, relatively heavy, for 54 cal and 58 cal, I ask for three bottles.

Answer, we can't. I can only sell you two. ???????? Why is that????? Well so everybody can get some and we don't run out....WTF???? Are you guys capitalists or are we in a socialist country. You have it and in no small amount, there is no demand, I have the money and need it. Well, that wouldn't be fair. WHAT?????? Well, sir, you can come back tomorrow and buy 2 more bottles. How is that fair????? Well, you would only be buying two. Get the manager. Sir, I am the manager for reloading and powder. Screw you guys. Keep it all and choke on it.

I went down the street and found three bottles for just a little more...Oh, and he is a capitalist, he sold them to me.

Buy two.

Put it in your car/truck.

Go back in and buy two more.

If this system works with 1/2 n 1/2, it'll work with gunpowder.
Not the point. The point is that the system that corporate (assuming it was corporate and not some tool on the floor making crap up) set up is idiotic and I have a very low ***** tolerance level. I will spend more and go somewhere else. It was a convenient stop. Now I will go out of my way to NOT buy from them.

You can go play the car shuffle if you like, your money, your time, your level of tolerance for that kind of thing.

I can't and more importantly WON'T

When the Cabelas opened in my area it was a pleasure to visit. Each department had at least one or two clerks who knew the subject: fishing, firearms, reloading, etc. They enjoyed talking about matters and showing newcomers the basics. And they had some leeway to get the customer a good deal. Then Bass Pro bought them out and turned it into another ****'s Sports. Within a couple of months, the knowledgeable salesmen were gone, replaced by stockers who MIGHT be able to tell you where an item is but nothing about the item. They are nice enough but they know store procedures, not shooting or fishing.

I still go there once in a while if I know they have a specific item at a reasonable price. But the days of just wandering around in there for fun are long gone.

One of them is they chopped the Veteran's discount to 5%.

That won't even cover taxes in some states.

I'll make a drive for 10%, but I won't turn my truck on for 5%.
I don't base my patronage based on who does or does not give a military discount. Nobody has to, but it is appreciated when they do. Around here if you based your purchases on who gives a military discount, you would starve. Neither Sam's Club, Costco, or Piggly Wiggly give a military discount. I am 90 t0 100 miles from the closest military installation, and Bass Pro is only 12 miles away, so I will crank my Ford F250 Diesel for 5%. Both Home Depot and Lowes have restructured what purchases will and will not receive a discount and this includes lumber.

I'm done with Cabela's and their credit card which I had used for everything for more than 25 years. I'm not going to go on a rant but I have a lot of reasons all of which started after Bass Pro came along.
I had their credit card, but just for a few days. I had an issue on my card on their stupid end and I call them someone tells me I am wrong and starts raising their voice at me. I told them where to put the card and the whole damned store and I will not ever give them my $ .

I did business with Cabelas for about as many years that they have been in business. The grandson was about to make his first deployment so I took him to buy his first Winchester lever rifle at Cabelas. I collect them and he wanted one of his own so that was my mission. We found a nice collectors edition and he did all the paperwork so when came time to pay I just pulled cash out of my pocket and handed it to my little paratrooper. The Cabelas employee saw that and came unglued about a straw purchase. That fool said he could have me jailed for such and act. I let him know that before I went to jail for that nonsense I would be charged for a lot more. Never bought from or entered a Cabelas since.

Never has any trouble with Cabela's. Use the Cabela's credit card everything, renting construction equipment, fuel and lodging, etc. Got a couple free guns with Cabela's points. Last one was a Ruger #1.
