Second success this morning! Used my 20ga Pedersoli and 1 oz of the Sphero Tungston #7. Seemed to work just as well as the 1 1/2 oz load out of the 12ga. This guy came off of a property in Amador County near the town of Ione. Two down, one to go.

Guess I might be the only Cali guy getting birds, but I got #3 for my season limit Today. El Dorado again. Got a late start, set up and started calling about 11:30 a.m. About a half hour and picked up a gobble in the distance, He came along way, but the last 30 yards was very slow. Finally he straddled up to Jezibel, my decoy, and the 1 oz of Sphero Tungston out of the 20ga did its job.

Man you’re killing me smalls!!

3 for 3!!!

I can’t find more birds to save my life over here! No gobbles, no sign! I see them all year and now nothing!!

I’m glad for you friend!! Tsaan Wookkuh!!!! Thanks for sharing!!

I cant seem to get a tag and here in AZ its one bird per calendar year. I got bonus points so next year I SHOULD be hunting again! There gobble stories are killin me, certainly my favorite hunt is spring Turkey, Good job, nice birds

That’s how it will be for me in Nevada. Near impossible to draw the few tags they give out! I plan to go to Oregon and California to get my turkey fix!

I started plan to start putting in for a coveted Gould’s tag starting next year too!

Good luck on your draw!!

I don't think my success is particularly skill related, there is just a ton of turkeys here in Cali. And I am lucky enough to have access to some private land and unpressured birds. We don't have tags either. Just a license and an upland game stamp. The non-res license is $174.45 for the year from July 1 through June 30, or a two day for $49.94. The upland stamp is another $10. You can buy it all online and print it out yourself. Lots of public land, but it takes some scouting. But you can not use lead.

Good luck to you folks for the rest of your season.

That's funny you mentioned El Dorado. There were two turkeys holding up traffic in downtown Placerville. Insisted that they were going to occupy the intersection where Hwy 49 joins Hwy 50. There was a lady trying to get them across the road but they weren't having any of it. Pretty hilarious.

Holy COW! CA non resident two day hunt is cheaper than resident here in AZ! Our tags are like $38.00 Hunting license $38.00. I saw two flocks of turkey 4-5 years ago in the Monteray area (there for the nieces wedding, I'm am 95% sure her wedding cost more than my house! OMG).
