2 wooden boxes I built for rendezvoos shoots.

the one on the left is my kitchen, has 2 plates,2 cups, glass containers and a small fry pan, all in the bottom and the top is a drawer that holds utensils, small spice containers and some camp possibles.

the one on the right is a small domed lid that will hold a change of clothes.

im going to build 2 more that will be different styles. one for food, and one for camp supplies(rope, pegs and small tools), which will also double as a base for the kitchen box to sit on.

I try not to take to much to shoots so im hoping the small size of the boxs limits the stuff I take. I don't know if they are 100% hc but where I shoot they will fit in perfect.

Like to have one like the treasure box for my granduaghter, she likes treasure boxes. Those are cool!!

I am a woodworker and I will tell you that those are some really dandy boxes. I have made only two boxes with coopered tops. They were a challenge to make since I had no plans to work from other than those that I drew. I had to figure out for myself how to make the angled cuts for the slats in the coopered top. Your top is magnificent with the slightly domed shape. Being able to cut the edges of those slats with the proper angle as well as tapering them from the middle to the ends to form this shape of a top just boggles my mind. How in the world were you able to make those slats so that they fit that way? I would love to make such a chest for my granddaughter. What did you use to make the straps over the top? Leather? Metal?

thanks
I bought cheap 1x6 pine then ripped it on edge 2 times to make thin planks, (aprox 1/4" thick).
the main part of the box is the 1/4" thick boards.
the ends are 1/4" too but I made exterior trim to support the whole thing.
the top boards I had to rip them thinner so they would curve in 2 directions.
I had to hand fit each top board progressively.
I started with an approximate angle on the front board and glued and nailed it in place, (home made square nails). then fit and tested each board after to get the taper and angles rite. as soon as I had the top on bent the end band from pine and nailed it down. trim the lengths after all was secure.
