Folks,

The Mrs. tells me that she is tired of carrying the heavy two piece kitchen set-up I made for her some time ago. She wants something light, that she can work from and have some storage for those "non-period" items. It should be portable, light and easy to break down at the end of the 'vous.

I'm setting up the shop to make a new outfit, but the plan eludes me. Any pictures, plans or suggestions?

My parents have a light trunk type of thing that isn't very big. maybe if you could break up the kitchen stuff, reorganize and say, what do we use, actually use. Once you get to this point, get something for say the food, that you can double as a chair(like the small trunk). This way, you can use part of that kitchen space for something else. i think before you concider making something else, you should downsize what you bring. Every year before i go to my first vou, i do this and it saves a lot of weight and room.

Howdy,
We carried a camp kitchen for a while until the wind got ahold of it and blew it over. It did not break, but it was sure a mess to clean up.
We now use 2 wooden boxes, one for food, one for plates, cups, etc. They double as benches for the table. The one for food doubles as a travel container for lanterns, wash basin, dish rack holder, etc. until we get to vous and then is emptied and the food is put in. When using a box for food, be sure to scatter some bay leaves in the bottom of the box to keep the ants or other bugs out. The table is where the food is prepared. This eliminates the need for the big bulky kitchen.
