Quilled Bag Has anyone purchased this quilled bag from crazy crow? Is it high quality? I was thinking of using it as a shooting bag?
Lol I don’t know how I missed that, thanks for pointing that out, I didn’t order it yet.Nope.
But they do say; "This skill survives today in these imported belt pouches" about the item.
I'd ask about their return policy,,(?)
Agreed, thanks for the input on this one.The German tan is not as durable as brain tanned hides. I'd pass it up. Quillwork it's self is not real durable.
Hmmm. Maybe Townsend sourced it from the very same maker/supplier!Crazy crow does have some reasonable prices on equipment used by living history enthusiasts today.
However its primary markets are westren decor and pow-wow. Much of their stuff is made for looks and display not for hard use.
That said I have some stuff from them that’s India produced that I can’t tell from Townsend produced at twice the money.
I think Townsend’s is all or most American made. They do a lot at the shop plus contract with artisans who throw clay or do tin or iron work. I’ve never bought anything from him I would complain aboutHmmm. Maybe Townsend sourced it from the very same maker/supplier!
On that note, did the kit come with thread do you remember?I might pass on the quilled bag, but my primary shooting/possibles bag is made from a crazy crow kit. Good thick leather, enough to customize. Been using it for years, very happy with it. And very affordable.
Yes, it came with artificial sinew, I remember because there wasn’t nearly enough of it. I had a spool already so it wasn’t a problem for me. The rest of the kit was good.On that note, did the kit come with thread do you remember?
You can get it pre waxed by Tandy
Townsend offers a hemp thread, much thicker than what you need for cloth. Great for leather work, much stronger than linen. You can tie an end on a branch and play Tarzan…. Almost
The design used is much more appropriate. As far as the quill pouch goes, I could see using it at a rendezvous, but not for every day hunting use.
Not to keen on the flowery pattern either. Something else, like elk horns and tracks.
