If I can be so bold to ask, when are you moving to the Yaak and why? Between all the meat eating predators, mainly grizzlies and wolves, our elk, moose and deer populations have suffered greatly. You will not find the hunting like where you are now.

I live just to the east of the Yaak in the Tobacco River valley.

Morning Brown Bear,
Has winter hit in the Wrangles yet?
How was yer meat season?
I hear ya about the knicker twisted P.C.ers but you know who I worry about making happy :haha:
I'm not a real big fan of short muzzleloaders but I have a feeling that this little smoothbore will be taking it's fair share of deer and chickens on the Yaak river via canoe once I get moved and settled in to North western Montucky.
:hatsoff:

Yeah, winter's creeping in, but a pretty slow start overall. My meating was interrupted by a 2-week trip to Las Anchorage, but I'll be back in the bush soon to make up for lost time. Gotta get back where it's not so easy to spend money.

Delighted to see that short gun working out so well. I sure like the balance on the little guys for our close cover and quick shooting.

If you and CJ ever put your noggins together and do a tutorial on homemade jug choking, the thread will be more popular than a bar tender at last call.

Morning buddy good to hear sombody from Eureka.
Like you I am absoutly ****** about the unindiginious Canadian grey wolf desimating our ungulates in MT,WY,and ID.
I bought 10 acers 12 years ago when the elk, moose and deer pop were doing great. Even after the die off in 96 the ungulates were better off than now.
On the bright side many folk are taking matters into their own hands(shoot, shovel, shut up)
It's to bad our rual areas are governed by urban arm chair bunny huggers with no real clue to rural life.
I am moving north because no matter how bad it is in MT, Co is far worse because of the front range extream liberal agenda.
Here is a typical sight in the Yaak vally.
An adult deer in it's prime taken out by uncontroled Canadian Grey wolves.
We will get them back because even the hippies will relize that the woods without deer and elk is a sad place.
hopefully.

I agree! I take the pics Yotie Joe can teach the lesson.

It's a sad state of affairs nowadays that the people making the decisions regarding wildlife, hunting seasons etc. are generally so far out of touch with what really happens out in the woods that I'd swear they were using Disney movies as a guideline.

My state G&F traded wild turkeys for Timber rattlers (imho we already had enough of 'em)and this year decided that since the elk herd was growing much more than expected that instead of allowing more permits for hunting they would trade them off to Missouri. :cursing:

If someone ever offers that bunch of slack jawed half wits in Little Rock a passel of wolves I'm sure they'd jump right into another lop sided trade. :(
