Not trying to stir the pot .
I have had ejected unburned powder ignite when firing a subsequent shot, so I decide to load a bit less powder.
I bieliev I was using 2f at 60 grains in a single shot percussion pistol.

Interesting. When viewing pics of ignition and seeing the huge fireball coming through the barrel I’ve found it about impossible for powder not to get lit. It defies logic knowing how easily it ignites. Until I see it myself I’ll be skeptical. Maybe the velocity puts the flames out???

When I fired that load there was a huge amount of flame and debris ejected on the subsequent also a heavy load I noticed the patch was on fire, that is what ignited the powder on the concrete floor of the in door range.I was very surprised in that it burned for several seconds and was scattered over about a 4x10 area.
This was about a year ago possibly les as the facilities had not yet been shut down and was the last time I have been able to do any shooting.
I am not certain of my load but it was at minium 60 grains 2f or possibly 1 1/2 f Swiss, 2f would have been Schuetzen.
I was very pleased with the Schuetzen powder as it had less smoke and was a bit easier clean up than my previous use of Goex , Swiss was far less smokey than my Goex powder.
I fired several weapons that day the percussion single shot pistol a Pedersoli fromtier percussion rifle , Uberti 1848 Wells Fargo and 1858 Pieta new army.

I am quite certain it is the proximity of he powder grains that causes them to burn /explode. when ejected from the barrel of the firearm they- the grains of powder are no longer close to each other, they therefore do not burn. At least in this instance.
