Brian: The pistol isn't all that dirty. I run mine with a load of dishes and put the dishes away after the cycle. A close examination of the dishes won't show a thing. However, in response to part of your question, the pistol should be cleaned after every firing. I've never stripped my 1860 blued colt replica beyond taking off the handles and separating the weapon into barrel, cylinder and frame. I've had it for about 10 years now and shoot it a lot. graybeard

Graybeard's right. It's not all that dirty and won't hurt the diswasher at all. I did it once. Thirty years ago. She hasn't forgotten.

How long can you keep a c and b revolver loaded before you have to shoot it? What do you recommend?
I visited the Museum of the Confederacy a few years ago and they had Robert E. Lee's Colt Navy 1851. It was fired 7 years after his death and all chambers went off. So... you can load and keep for quite a long time. I think they mentioned the chamber ends were filled with wax- could have been tallow.
